Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting high school students as a Sign Language Interpreter in the Tulsa, OK area. This contract-based position offers both full-time and part-time openings, working 1:1 with students to ensure equal access to instruction and campus life.

Openings include two full-time roles (35-37.5 hours, Monday through Friday) and one part-time position supporting a student with significant needs (Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 8:40 AM – 4:15 PM). In one case, you’ll accompany your assigned student to another school building, less than a mile away, allowing for close collaboration and dynamic daily routines.

Qualifications:

  • Valid EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or RID/NAD certification
  • Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or above
  • Preferred: Two years or more experience in sign language interpreting, especially in educational settings
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
  • Adaptability to work with students with varying abilities and needs

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear, effective communication between students and school staff using American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Interpret academics, extracurricular activities, and social interactions to bolster student engagement
  • Support students in a variety of school settings, including possible transitions between buildings as needed
  • Collaborate with educators, related service providers, and families to optimize student outcomes
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings as required

This role provides a competitive pay range of $30 to $35 per hour, as well as a comprehensive benefits package including health (medical, dental, vision) coverage and a 401(k) retirement plan through Principal Financial.
