Key Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in a school or educational setting
  • Ability to adeptly interpret and transliterate spoken language for Deaf or Hard of Hearing high school students
  • Familiarity with educational terminology and classroom protocols
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities
  • National or state certification for Sign Language Interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or a state credential) is highly desirable

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpretation during classes, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
  • Support high school students in accessing curriculum, social interactions, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and educational teams to ensure students’ needs are met
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics within the school environment
