Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Universal City, TX

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to an engaging educational environment where your skills will directly support students from Pre-K through 8th grade. This full-time, on-site contract opportunity runs through May 2027 and offers the rewarding challenge of working within a single campus assigned near Universal City, TX. You'll help bridge communication gaps for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, empowering them to fully participate in their academic and social development.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certified Interpreter for the Deaf required.
• Hold a Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) credential or a Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing BEI I, BEI II (under previous system), or Basic (current system) certification.
• Experience interpreting in educational settings, ideally with students ranging from PK through 8th grade.
• Ability to pass district fingerprinting and background checks as part of the credentialing process.
• Strong knowledge of student privacy practices and maintaining confidentiality.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, both signed and spoken.
• Flexible to meet the evolving needs of students and staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret classroom instruction, group activities, assemblies, and individualized education sessions for deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
• Foster positive connections between students, educators, and parents by providing clear, accurate interpretation services.
• Support students’ language development and advocacy skills.
• Maintain detailed, secure records of student assignments and services provided.
• Adapt interpretation techniques based on age and academic subject matter, from early childhood through middle school.
