Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Universal City, Texas

This contract position runs from ASAP through May 26, 2027, offering an influential role within a single school campus, working closely with students in grades PK–8. You’ll provide on-site interpreting services alongside a dedicated team, collaborating with educators, families, and service providers to foster an inclusive environment and promote student success. Interviews are scheduled for the last week in October, so this is an excellent time to bring your skills and make an impact in a supportive educational community.

Qualifications & Required Experience:

• Current certification with Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or Texas Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: BEI I or II (prior) or Basic (current system)
• District fingerprinting and background check are required for all candidates
• Previous experience in school-based settings or with PK-8th grade students is highly valued
• Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptability within diverse, educational environments

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide sign language interpreting services in academic, extracurricular, and meeting settings for students and staff
• Facilitate clear communication between students, peers, teachers, and parents
• Adhere to all district policies, ethical standards, and confidentiality guidelines
• Participate in school meetings, student planning, and multidisciplinary team collaborations
• Maintain regular, reliable attendance for the contract duration
