Key Qualifications:
- Valid and current Interpreter License as required by the state
- Experience interpreting in educational or school environments preferred
- Competence in American Sign Language (ASL); preference for those who are bilingual
- Proven ability to provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students in middle school
- Strong collaboration skills with educational staff, students, and families
- Strict adherence to confidentiality and professional standards
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 sign language interpretation for a middle school student throughout the school day
- Facilitate smooth communication between the student and teachers, classmates, and support staff in all educational contexts
- Support the student’s participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques and strategies to fit various learning environments
- Maintain appropriate documentation as needed
- Attend relevant IEP or team meetings when requested
