Step into a meaningful contract opportunity providing sign language interpretation services in a vibrant educational environment near Verdi, NV. This role primarily centers on supporting elementary students, with occasional responsibilities at middle and high schools on an as-needed, itinerant basis. You will work closely with a small caseload, typically serving 1-2 students, ensuring access and engagement in the classroom experience.
Ideal candidates possess a depth of experience fostering communication and inclusion in a school setting. You’ll collaborate closely with staff and educators to accommodate students' needs and help facilitate their best learning outcomes.
Qualifications:
- National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIP score of 3.5 or higher
- Previous experience in school settings, preferably elementary with some exposure to middle and high school populations
- Ability to provide services across multiple school sites (itinerant caseload)
- Comfortable supporting children in both group and one-on-one settings
- Successful completion of fingerprinting and drug screening
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication between staff, students, and parents ensuring accessibility throughout the school day
- Support and advocate for deaf or hard-of-hearing students within academic and co-curricular activities
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate a variety of classroom scenarios and student needs
- Collaborate with educators and related service providers to foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Maintain professional standards of confidentiality, ethics, and student advocacy
This full-time contract (32 hours/week) spans the school year, with flexibility in daily task distribution.
