Step into a meaningful role supporting the communication needs of an elementary school student who is Deaf. As a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Paraprofessional, you'll play an essential part in helping a young student thrive academically and socially. This contract opportunity, located near Ville Platte, LA, offers a consistent weekday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Key Qualifications:
• EIPA score of 2.5 or higher, OR a degree and demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language
• Ability and willingness to interpret during the interview process to showcase your proficiency
• Experience working with Deaf or hard-of-hearing students preferred
• Familiarity with elementary school environments is a plus
• Top-notch communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and advocacy for students with disabilities

Primary Responsibilities:
• Provide clear, accurate ASL interpretation between the student, teachers, and peers in the classroom and other school settings
• Support the student's participation in classroom activities, assignments, and social interactions
• Collaborate closely with teachers, specialists, and staff to facilitate an inclusive and supportive learning environment
• Adapt interpreting methods to match the needs and developmental level of the elementary-aged student
• Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information and academic matters
• Assist in creating opportunities for student engagement and independence
