Sign Language Interpreter in Virginia Beach, VA

Step into a rewarding role supporting students in the Virginia Beach area as a dedicated Sign Language Interpreter for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity offers the chance to make a genuine difference working one-on-one with elementary-aged students in a dynamic school environment. Assignments are full-time, Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, from August 25, 2026, through June 15, 2027.

Your expertise will be needed across various campuses to best meet student needs; flexibility is key as you may occasionally provide coverage at different locations if your assigned student is absent. The preferred communication mode is Visaphonics, but it is not required—bring your skill set and support learners as they thrive in their academic journey.

What We’re Looking For:

• Valid VA Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III is required
• Strong preference for EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher (candidates with scores above 3.0 encouraged to interview), or QAS Score of 3 or better
• Experience in educational settings, especially with elementary students, is highly valued
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and adapt to varying campus assignments
• Professionalism and rigorous adherence to ethical standards in interpreting
• Commitment to regular, onsite presence—this is not a remote or hybrid position

Your Role:

• Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for assigned student(s) during instruction and school activities
• Foster inclusive learning by facilitating effective communication between students, peers, and staff
• Travel as needed between buildings to provide coverage where your skills are needed most
• Serve as a positive, encouraging resource and advocate for students in the classroom
