This full-time contract opportunity involves supporting students primarily in elementary settings, with occasional assignments at nearby middle and high schools. As an itinerant interpreter, you will play a crucial role in helping 1-2 students access classroom learning and participate fully in school life.
Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter required
- EIP score of 3.5 or higher
- Experience working within educational settings, preferably K-12
- Ability to adapt to various age groups and learning environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Must be able to complete required fingerprinting and pass a drug screen
- Open to “prescreen” interviews, with flexible scheduling between 9-11am and 2-3pm EST
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for students in classroom and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to facilitate effective communication
- Travel between assigned schools as needed (minimal itinerant work)
- Uphold confidentiality and professional standards
- Adjust interpreting style and language level to meet individual student needs
- Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment
