Make a meaningful impact in education by bringing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a school community near Washoe Valley, NV. This full-time contract opportunity involves supporting students primarily in elementary settings, with occasional assignments at nearby middle and high schools. As an itinerant interpreter, you will play a crucial role in helping 1-2 students access classroom learning and participate fully in school life.

Key Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • National Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter required
  • EIP score of 3.5 or higher
  • Experience working within educational settings, preferably K-12
  • Ability to adapt to various age groups and learning environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Must be able to complete required fingerprinting and pass a drug screen
  • Open to “prescreen” interviews, with flexible scheduling between 9-11am and 2-3pm EST

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality sign language interpretation for students in classroom and school activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and parents to facilitate effective communication
  • Travel between assigned schools as needed (minimal itinerant work)
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional standards
  • Adjust interpreting style and language level to meet individual student needs
  • Assist in fostering an inclusive learning environment

This position runs from August 10, 2026, through June 3, 2027, with a 32-hour workweek ensuring meaningful work/life balance. You'll build relationships within a committed team and experience the satisfaction of helping students reach their greatest potential.
