Sign Language Interpreter in Waukegan, IL

Make a difference every day by supporting students in need of Sign Language interpretation in a dynamic school environment. Two contract opportunities are available for skilled professionals with a passion for accessibility and education. These onsite roles will support learning and communication for students in inclusive school settings.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with ISBE Approval, or
• EIPA score of 3.0–3.4 accepted with interim Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Interim Approval
• BEI, ISAS, CI/CT, or NIC credentials accepted with ISBE Approval
• Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings strongly preferred
• Ability to collaborate with students, educators, and support staff
• Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to student success

Positions Available:

1. Full-Day Assignment

   • Monday–Friday, 9am–3pm
   • Based at a center in Vernon Hills
   • Contract runs through May 28, 2027

2. Morning Assignment

   • Monday–Friday, 8am–12pm
   • Located at a high school in Grayslake
   • Contract runs through May 20, 2027

Responsibilities:

• Provide clear, accurate interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language in classroom and school settings
• Facilitate communication for students, supporting full access to instruction and school activities
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure student needs are met
• Maintain professional standards of confidentiality and ethics
• Participate in team meetings or IEPs as appropriate
