Bring your passion for communication and support to a vibrant educational setting as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract position, you’ll make a meaningful difference by providing sign language interpretive services to young learners in a Kindergarten classroom for the entire 26-27 school year. Located near Waukesha, WI, this opportunity involves working half-days each day from August through June, with the strong possibility to extend into the following year.

You’ll play an essential role in helping foundational-level students who are just beginning to learn American Sign Language (ASL). No complex signs are required; instead, your focus will be on supporting early learners as they build confidence and basic skills in ASL.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language
  • Previous experience in educational settings, particularly with young children, preferred
  • Ability to adapt communication style to meet the needs of students at foundational ASL levels
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting inclusive learning environments

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class SLI support to Kindergarten students each day, half-day schedule
  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between students and staff
  • Foster a welcoming, supportive environment as young learners begin their ASL journey
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to promote student engagement and inclusion
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
