Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Waverly, NE

Make an impact in the lives of young learners as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter supporting an elementary caseload within a vibrant, inclusive school environment. This full-time contract opportunity offers the chance to work closely with students, empowering effective communication and providing essential support from now until May 2027.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
• EIPA score of 3.0 or higher is required
• Experience working within school settings, ideally with elementary-aged students
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and collaborative skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
• Comfortable working onsite in a classroom environment

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken communication to American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, activities, and school events
• Ensure accurate and effective relaying of information between teachers, staff, and students
• Support students in accessing curriculum and participating fully in their educational experience
• Assist in creating an inclusive environment for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support professionals to address student needs
• Provide feedback and recommendations regarding communication strategies and access
• Maintain thorough, timely documentation as needed
