Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school-based setting. This full-time opportunity is located onsite near Columbia, SC, and runs from August 2026 through May 2027. This position provides the chance to make a significant impact on students’ educational experiences while collaborating with dedicated educators and staff.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required
  • Minimum 3.5 EIPA and completion of the Written portion
  • Previous experience interpreting in educational settings highly valued
  • Strong proficiency in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt language to varied student needs
  • Professional, reliable, and able to serve as a collaborative member of an educational team

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students, staff, and faculty throughout the school day
  • Facilitate effective communication in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
  • Work closely with educators and support staff to promote inclusion and accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards are met at all times
  • Adapt interpreting techniques to individual student needs and changing classroom environments
