This full-time opportunity is located onsite near Columbia, SC, and runs from August 2026 through May 2027. Key Qualifications:
- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required
- Minimum 3.5 EIPA and completion of the Written portion
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings highly valued
- Strong proficiency in both American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt language to varied student needs
- Professional, reliable, and able to serve as a collaborative member of an educational team
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide clear, accurate sign language interpretation for students, staff, and faculty throughout the school day
- Facilitate effective communication in classrooms, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Work closely with educators and support staff to promote inclusion and accessibility for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Ensure confidentiality and ethical standards are met at all times
- Adapt interpreting techniques to individual student needs and changing classroom environments
