Key Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of interpreting techniques
• Completed training or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter, with a preference for those holding EIPA, RID, or similar credentials
• Experience working in educational settings or with school-aged children is highly valued
• Ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication between students, staff, and the wider school community
• Professional, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret spoken language into sign language and vice versa during classroom instruction, assemblies, meetings, and extracurricular activities
• Collaborate with teachers and educational teams to adapt communication to students’ individual needs
• Support students with hearing differences to understand and participate in all aspects of their learning
• Maintain accurate records of interpreting activities and student progress as required
• Stay updated with best practices in educational interpreting through ongoing professional development
