Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Experience in educational interpreting preferred
  • Ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication in classroom settings
  • Understanding of the ethical standards and confidentiality requirements for interpreters in schools
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to collaborate with educators and students

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities between students/staff who use ASL and those who communicate orally
  • Support communication during meetings, assemblies, and extracurricular events as needed
  • Work as part of an educational team, helping to develop inclusive learning environments
  • Maintain accurate records of interpreting services provided
  • Adapt communication styles based on individual student needs and classroom environments

Position Details:

  • Contract role, full-time availability required
  • Typical schedule: 7-hour workdays
