Educational Interpreter - Williamsburg, Michigan

This contract position in Williamsburg, MI, is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter with expertise in American Sign Language to work in a school setting. The role involves supporting both the current and next school years on a full-time basis, requiring 37.5 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality sign language interpretation services for a first-grade student who has experienced severe language deprivation.
• Collaborate with educational staff to facilitate effective communication and language development.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures.
• Support the student’s integration within the classroom environment through clear, accessible communication.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Certified Sign Language Interpreter or Teacher of American Sign Language.
• Minimum EIPA score of 4.0 preferred; candidates with lower scores may be considered if a qualified mentor can provide supervision and sign off on temporary certification.
• Experience working with children who have language deprivation or similar challenges is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work within an educational team.
