This full-time assignment offers 37.5 hours per week, stretching across both the current and next school year. You’ll play a vital part in enhancing access and language development for a first-grade student who has experienced significant language deprivation.

Candidates who hold a 4.0 EIPA certification are highly sought after, but those with slightly lower scores may also be considered—temporary certification arrangements can be discussed for the right fit. Desired Qualifications:

  • EIPA score of 4.0 preferred (willing to consider those with lower scores for temporary certification)
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
  • Strong ASL proficiency and fluency in interpreting for children
  • Knowledge of language development, especially for students with language deprivation
  • Experience or training in working with elementary-aged children

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one sign language interpreting for a first-grade student throughout the school day
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and specialists to ensure full access to curriculum and social opportunities
  • Adapt communication methods and instructional supports according to the student's needs
  • Participate in regular meetings and contribute input to IEPs and student progress reports
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all interpreting situations
