Educational Interpreter - Williamsburg, VA

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid credentials in Sign Language Interpretation, with documented skills for interpreting in educational settings
• Minimum of a 3.5 score on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment)
• Demonstrated professionalism and reliability in a school or similar environment
• Commitment to confidentiality, ethical standards, and supporting student success
• Comfortable and skilled in 1:1 interpreting roles
• Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration abilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, 1:1 sign language interpretation for a student, facilitating understanding between student, teachers, and peers
• Support the student during classroom instruction, school activities, and additional learning situations as needed
• Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the specific, changing needs of the individual
• Collaborate with educational staff to foster a positive, accessible learning atmosphere
• Maintain accurate daily logs and documentation in accordance with school and legal requirements
• Uphold respectful, professional, and culturally sensitive interaction at all times
