This contract position runs from August 24, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with the possibility to extend into the Extended School Year (ESY). Your workday follows a consistent Monday through Friday school schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., fostering a structured yet engaging routine. Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and extensive experience interpreting for school-aged individuals
- Qualified to provide Sign Language Interpreter services in a school environment
- Experience working with students from the Maryland School for the Deaf strongly preferred
- Professionalism, reliability, and sensitivity to Deaf culture
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities
- Facilitate communication between the student and educators, peers, and other school personnel
- Adapt interpretation techniques for a variety of subjects, supporting both academic and social needs
- Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
- Remain adaptable to potential after-school activities, such as sports, as a bonus (not required)
