Sign Language Interpreter in Williamsport, MD

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting a high school student as a Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant educational setting. This contract position runs from August 24, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with the possibility to extend into the Extended School Year (ESY). Your workday follows a consistent Monday through Friday school schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., fostering a structured yet engaging routine. Qualifications and Experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and extensive experience interpreting for school-aged individuals
• Qualified to provide Sign Language Interpreter services in a school environment
• Experience working with students from the Maryland School for the Deaf strongly preferred
• Professionalism, reliability, and sensitivity to Deaf culture
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and staff
• Flexibility for interviews—quick hiring process to help you get started

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities
• Facilitate communication between the student and educators, peers, and other school personnel
• Adapt interpretation techniques for a variety of subjects, supporting both academic and social needs
• Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
• Remain adaptable to potential after-school activities, such as sports, as a bonus (not required)
