This contract position offers a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year. Your expertise in American Sign Language (ASL) will help bridge communication gaps and empower student success.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
  • Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting preferred
  • Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) required
  • Familiarity with educational terminology and IEP (Individualized Education Program) processes
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to fostering inclusivity

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring equal access to classroom instruction and activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other education professionals to facilitate communication between students, peers, and staff members
  • Adapt interpreting methods and techniques based on individual student needs and learning environments
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional code of conduct
  • Assist in the development and review of educational plans for students requiring sign language services
