Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting student success as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dynamic elementary school environment. This full-time assignment spans from September 10th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, with hours from 7:30am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours per week. You'll be instrumental in promoting accessible education for a 5th grade student in a general education classroom.

Qualifications:

  • Valid and active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification.
  • Completion of district-required fingerprinting prior to start.
  • Previous experience interpreting in a school setting strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and understanding of interpreting protocols.
  • Ability to build rapport with elementary-aged students and collaborate effectively with educational staff.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpretation for a 5th grade student during the school day, facilitating clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities faithfully and confidentially.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational professionals to support instructional goals and student participation.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines and policies relevant to educational interpreters and maintain accurate documentation as needed.
  • Assist in nurturing the student's engagement and independence within the general education setting.
