Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Woodstock, IL

Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to support high school students in inclusive educational settings near Woodstock, IL! Two part-time contract openings are available for skilled interpreters passionate about making a difference in students’ academic experiences.

Both assignments begin as soon as possible and extend through late May 2027. These roles offer a consistent weekday schedule, collaborating closely with students and educational teams to ensure equal access and effective communication.

Current Openings:

• Burlington, IL: .35 FTE, 12:30–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday; providing interpretation for a high school student.
• Harvard, IL: 0.5 FTE, 11:00 AM–3:00 PM, Monday–Friday; supporting a high school student in mainstream classrooms.

Qualifications:

• Valid ISBE certification and either a 3.5+ EIPA or a 3.0+ EIPA with IBSE approval.
• Proven skills in sign language interpretation, especially in classroom or school environments.
• Strong commitment to fostering accessibility and inclusion.
• Ability to collaborate with faculty and adapt to the needs of individual students.
• High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and dependability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate and clear sign language interpretation for students across academic and social situations.
• Interpret instructional materials, lectures, group discussions, and peer interactions.
• Promote engagement and understanding for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• Assist teachers and staff by facilitating communication in various school settings.
• Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards at all times.
