Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (RID, EIPA, or equivalent preferred)
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working in schools or with children/adolescents is highly valued
- Strong understanding of educational environments and the needs of D/deaf and hard of hearing students
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret classroom instruction, assignments, and discussions between students and teachers
- Facilitate clear communication for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities
- Support individual students’ language and communication needs as directed by educational teams
- Adapt interpreting style based on the age and skills of the student(s)
- Maintain accurate and timely records of services provided
- Participate in professional development and district meetings as needed
