Make a direct impact in K-12 education by supporting student accessibility as an onsite Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time contract opportunity near York, PA. In this role, you’ll provide crucial 1:1 communication support to a 5th grade student within a Life Skills classroom. This assignment offers the chance to work closely with both students and educational teams, helping foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment.

Your schedule will follow the school calendar, working 35 hours per week from 7:20 AM - 2:10 PM, beginning August 19, 2026, and continuing through June 2, 2027.

Skills & Experience Preferred:

  • Valid EIPA score of 3.5 or higher (required by the IU)
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational sign systems
  • Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter within a school or educational setting is highly desirable
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to best serve student needs
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate clear and accurate interpretation between the student, peers, and educational staff
  • Support the student’s understanding of classroom instruction and daily routines
  • Maintain confidentiality and remain professional in all school interactions
  • Adapt interpretation to meet the individual student’s abilities and communication style
  • Participate in team meetings as required, providing input on the student’s progress and needs
