What You'll Do:

• Provide in-person American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation in a diverse high school classroom environment
• Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and classmates to support understanding and engagement
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and general coursework, ensuring access to all learning activities
• Assist in adapting classroom materials and instructions to meet the student’s language and learning needs
• Collaborate closely with educational staff to help promote a positive, inclusive experience for the student
• Support the student’s participation in academic and extracurricular settings

Desired Background:

• Registered under the SLI and Transliteration Registration Act
• Proficient in American Sign Language with a strong grasp of classroom and academic vocabulary
• Experience or in-depth knowledge of the unique educational requirements of Deaf or hard of hearing students
• Demonstrated skill in both oral and written communication
• Able to understand and follow complex directions
• Holds current certification and licensing as required for Indiana educational interpreters
