This opportunity is for a Speech-Language Pathologist to support students at a specialized private school located in Queensbury, NY, approximately 45 minutes north of Albany. The school serves students with severe cognitive disabilities and behavioral challenges, many of whom are non-verbal and use alternative communication methods (AAC). Some students also require care for pediatric dysphagia and feeding needs. This position is year-round and starts ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech-language therapy to students with complex needs, including AAC users and those with pediatric dysphagia
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student assessments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including educators and healthcare professionals
- Maintain detailed documentation and track student progress
- Supervise Clinical Fellows (CFs) as needed
Qualifications and Experience:
- NYS Teaching Certificate as a Teacher of the Speech and Hearing Handicapped (required)
- Experience working in school settings or pediatric healthcare environments preferred
- Comfort working with students with severe cognitive and behavioral challenges
- Strong skills in AAC and feeding/swallowing therapy
- Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) candidates welcome; supervision provided
