A school district in Joliet, IL is seeking a motivated Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow (SLP-CF) for the upcoming school year. This is a great opportunity to complete your Clinical Fellowship in a structured, supportive school setting with strong mentorship and hands-on experience.
Position Overview
- Full-time, Monday–Friday (35–40 hours/week)
- Onsite role serving PreK–12 students (placement based on preference and district need)
- Supervision provided by a licensed SLP to support CF completion
- Full school year contract with potential for renewal
Caseload Details
- Average caseload of 40–60 students (varies by school/site)
- Students with mild to moderate needs across general and special education

- Articulation & phonological disorders
- Receptive/expressive language delays
- Social/pragmatic communication
- Fluency and voice disorders

Opportunities to work with:
- AAC devices and assistive technology

Key responsibilities:
- Conduct evaluations and re-evaluations
- Develop and implement IEP goals
- Provide direct therapy (individual & small groups)
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Maintain compliant documentation
Illinois State Requirements (SLP-CF)
To work as a Clinical Fellow in Illinois, candidates must:
- Hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Obtain a Temporary SLP License through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation prior to starting
- Complete a supervised Clinical Fellowship (~9 months full-time or equivalent) under a licensed SLP
- Pass the Praxis exam (or obtain ASHA certification) for full licensure
- Work toward the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) through American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
- For school settings: obtain or be eligible for a Professional Educator License (PEL) with SLP endorsement (requirements vary by candidate pathway)
- Complete required background checks (fingerprinting, etc.)
