Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in Fairport, NY

This rewarding school-based contract opportunity spans the entire academic year, providing services to students ages 7-21 within a respected nonprofit environment. Work from one centralized location near Fairport, NY, where you’ll help learners with a diverse spectrum of communication needs—ranging from those who are nonverbal or use AAC devices to individuals presenting specific behavioral challenges.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
• Experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations preferred
• Knowledge of approaches for autism spectrum disorders, including AAC and nonverbal communication strategies
• Patience, empathy, and strong organizational skills
• Ability to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
• Professional licensure for speech-language pathology (or eligibility in NY)

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, and communication disorders for students aged 7-21 with developmental disabilities and autism
• Design and modify individualized treatment plans in collaboration with school teams and caregivers
• Deliver both group and one-on-one interventions, with an emphasis on AAC and strategies for nonverbal students
• Monitor progress, document outcomes, and adjust interventions as needed
• Offer training to staff and families on communication supports and behavioral strategies
• Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary teams, advocating for student needs
