Make a meaningful impact in K-12 education as a contract Speech-Language Pathologist, supporting students with diverse communication needs in urban and suburban communities. Openings are available for up to two onsite SLP professionals, with placements in Grand Blanc, Lansing, and Detroit areas. The assignment runs from August 17th to June 11th, encompassing 35 hours per week within school settings. Both seasoned SLPs and strong Clinical Fellows may be considered, with preference for candidates who have, or can secure, a qualified supervisor.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university (official transcripts required)
- Holds or has applied for Michigan SLP licensure (must provide evidence of application if pending)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred; CFYs considered
- Comfortable working onsite with K-12 populations
- Ability to discuss challenges faced by urban students and appropriate community resources
- Prior experience in a school setting is desirable
- Proven collaboration skills with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group speech and language therapy, tailored to each student's IEP
- Collaborate with staff and parents to integrate communication strategies into daily lessons
- Set measurable goals and participate in IEP/MET meetings
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with relevant guidelines
- Conduct assessments and provide eligibility reports
- Support implementation of AAC for students requiring assistive tech
- Travel across assigned schools as needed to ensure student access to services
- Contribute to training staff on best practices for language development
