Step into a pivotal role providing speech-language therapy within a regional day school program for the deaf. This contract position offers the opportunity to work full-time (37.5 hours per week) alongside a dedicated team, supporting students in a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) program. Your ASL fluency and expertise will help unlock communication and growth for students who need it most.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Texas Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) license required
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or DHHT certification essential
- Experience working in educational or school-based settings, particularly with DHH populations, is preferred
- Strong assessment, evaluation, and therapy skills for students with varied communication needs
- Must successfully complete TEA fingerprint clearance if not recently completed for a public school district
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, therapy-focused speech-language services for DHH students within the regional day school program
- Collaborate closely with two other SLPs and educational staff to coordinate therapy and ensure student success
- Utilize ASL to facilitate effective communication with students and colleagues
- Document interventions, progress, and maintain IEP compliance
- Engage in ongoing professional development and participate in school meetings and teams as needed
