Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) required
  • Valid New York State SLP license; TSSLD certification if working in school settings
  • Experience in school settings and familiarity with IEP development and CSE/CPSE participation
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, families, and classroom staff
  • Knowledge of IDEA, NYS Education Law, and best practices in speech-language therapy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct screenings, formal and informal assessments, and student observations to identify speech and language needs
  • Actively participate in CSE and CPSE meetings, helping determine eligibility and develop individualized plans
  • Deliver direct and consultation services, adapting materials and incorporating AAC when necessary
  • Provide therapy in a variety of contexts (pull-out, push-in, classroom consultation) to support student progress and generalization of communication skills
  • Collaborate with educators, staff, and families to create accommodating learning environments
  • Maintain meticulous records, write evaluation and progress reports, and ensure compliance with all state and federal special education requirements
  • Provide training and consultative support to staff in implementing communication strategies
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with NYS certification requirements and industry standards
