This contract opportunity begins June 1 and runs through June 25, with the option to extend into the Extended School Year (ESY) program from July to August, based on your interest. Collaborate in a nurturing environment with a small group of 12 preschool students, working alongside dedicated educational staff from Monday through Friday, 8 AM–3 PM.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid RN license in the state of New York with experience working in pediatric or school settings
- Familiarity with school-based SLP (Speech-Language Pathology) practices is highly valued
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to build rapport with young children and respond with compassion
- Competence handling routine health issues, medication administration, and emergency care in a school environment
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all regulatory requirements
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care, including monitoring student health, managing medications, and addressing minor injuries or illnesses
- Collaborate with educators, parents, and speech-language pathology staff to support each child's academic and social-emotional growth
- Promote a culture of safety, wellbeing, and inclusion for all students
- Document health histories, interventions, and care provided, maintaining accurate and timely records
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings if needed and contribute to care planning
