A contract position is available for a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with CCC credentials to provide essential support to students in a school setting located in New Haven, CT. This role focuses on enhancing students’ communication abilities to help them access curriculum, engage socially, and meet academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:

Assessment & Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, and fluency evaluations
- Screen for communication disorders and interpret results to determine eligibility for services under IDEA
- Participate in multidisciplinary assessments

Intervention / Therapy
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide direct and indirect therapy addressing articulation, expressive/receptive language, social communication, fluency, and other communication disorders
- Modify therapy goals based on student progress

Collaboration & Consultation
- Work collaboratively with educators, therapists, psychologists, and families
- Support teachers in incorporating communication strategies in the classroom
- Train staff to assist students with communication needs

Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, therapy sessions, and progress notes
- Prepare reports and contribute to IEP meetings
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations

Prevention & Education
- Participate in early intervention and prevention initiatives
- Educate staff and families on communication development
- Promote awareness of speech and language challenges

Assistive Technology
- Recommend and support AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tools
- Train students and staff in AAC use
Typical caseload includes preschool through high school students with various speech and language needs such as articulation, fluency, voice, or pragmatic communication. Assignments may involve one or multiple school sites depending on district size.
