This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work alongside a close-knit team in a specialized private school serving students ages 5–21. With a total student body of just 78 across 10 self-contained classrooms (each at an 8:1:3 ratio), individualized attention and a collaborative atmosphere are at the heart of this program.
Your expertise will impact learners with level 3 autism, significant cognitive challenges, and severe behaviors. The majority of students are non-verbal or use alternative communication methods. Enjoy the resources you need with a dedicated therapy space and a regular Monday through Friday schedule from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm. Start as soon as possible and continue through the end of the school year—and, with the school’s year-round calendar, long-term potential is possible.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and current state licensure
- Experience supporting students in K–12 settings; comfort with ages 5–21
- Familiarity with alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), especially for non-verbal learners
- Background in treating students with severe cognitive and behavioral challenges or autism is highly preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
What You’ll Do:
- Assess and support students’ communication needs using a variety of AAC strategies and individualized interventions
- Collaborate closely with teachers, behavior specialists, and paraprofessionals in classroom settings
- Develop and implement IEPs, track progress, and adapt interventions as needed
- Provide direct therapy services in both individual and small group formats within a dedicated clinical space
- Offer guidance to staff and families on communication supports and techniques
