Step into a dynamic educational environment and make a meaningful difference as a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist supporting students with diverse communication needs. This long-term substitute opportunity is available immediately and extends through November 1, 2026, including Extended School Year (ESY) services. The assignment takes place in a supportive setting housing two specialized programs: one serving PreK-8 students and another focused on individuals aged 9 through 22. You’ll work alongside a highly collaborative team of six other SLPs and numerous behavior technicians, with a manageable caseload focused on students with autism and behavioral needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Valid SLP license for Connecticut (or eligibility to obtain)
- ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Prior experience in school-based or pediatric settings
- Understanding of augmentative/alternative communication strategies is a plus
- Compassionate approach to working with students with autism and behavioral challenges
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct speech and language intervention to students across both programs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals
- Conduct speech/language assessments and document findings
- Work closely with staff and families to support student progress
- Adapt therapy modalities and materials to best meet student needs
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and professional development
Assignment Details:
- ESY: July 1 - July 24, M-F, 8AM - 2PM
- NSY: August 12 - November 1, 2026, M-F, 8AM - 3:30PM
