School-Based Speech Language Pathologist | Waterbury, Connecticut

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Speech-Language Pathologist supporting students with complex needs in a dynamic educational setting. This full-time position is available from August 12th to November 1st, covering a maternity leave in the North Haven area. You'll work with a diverse group of students, including those with significant autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities, making a meaningful difference in their daily communication and overall educational success.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
• Current state licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
• Previous experience in school settings is highly valued
• Familiarity with complex needs populations, including students with significant ASD, multiple disabilities, or communication challenges
• Strong communication and collaborative skills to engage effectively with students, educators, and families
• Ability to adapt therapy techniques to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Excellent organizational skills for maintaining documentation and complying with school protocols

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct speech and language therapy services in accordance with students’ IEPs
• Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and maintain precise records
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including teachers, aides, and parents to maximize student outcomes
• Support and adapt communication strategies, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) devices, and visual supports as needed
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student progress reports
• Offer guidance and resources to staff and families focused on supporting communication development
