Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field required.
- Valid SLPA (Speech-Language Pathology Assistant) license in Virginia.
- Experience assisting with speech-language therapy in school settings is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with documentation systems and IEP requirements highly valued.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct therapy services under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
- Support the planning and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and provide insightful feedback to SLPs, teachers, and parents.
- Engage students with tailored activities that foster communication, language, and social skills.
- Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist with assessments, screenings, and preparation of materials.
- Collaborate with other school professionals to ensure comprehensive support for student success.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
