Key Experience and Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited Speech Language Pathologist Assistant program
  • Valid SLPA licensure for the state of Virginia, or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous experience supporting speech and language services in a school environment preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Compassion, patience, and dedication to helping students succeed
  • Ability to adapt to the unique needs of an educational setting

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist Speech Language Pathologists in implementing treatment plans tailored to individual student needs
  • Work directly with students in group and one-on-one settings to facilitate speech and language exercises
  • Document student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Support classroom teachers and educational staff by providing strategies for communication success
  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to progress reports as requested
  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal regulations
  • Foster a positive, encouraging environment for students and their families
