A full-time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) opportunity is available in a K-12 school setting located in Portage, WI. This contract position for the current school year (CSY) offers a chance to support students across Early Childhood through 12th grade with a diverse range of communication needs, including mild to severe cases. The role involves working closely alongside a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to deliver effective therapy and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of approximately 50 students, with therapy time typically scheduled by minutes.
- Provide support for students with mild to severe communication disorders, including the use of AAC devices.
- Assist non-verbal students in developing communication skills and strategies.
- Collaborate with the SLP to implement and adapt individualized therapy plans.
- Maintain clear documentation and progress notes consistent with educational and therapeutic standards.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development as needed.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Experience working as an SLPA within school settings supporting students from early childhood through grade 12.
- Familiarity with AAC devices and working with non-verbal or minimally verbal students.
- Ability to manage a robust caseload efficiently.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to therapy service delivery.
- Relevant certification or licensure as an SLPA according to state guidelines.
