This role places you in an in-person day treatment school setting, working predominantly with high school students who present a wide range of communication abilities. Managing a caseload of around 20 students, you’ll apply and expand your AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) expertise, support student progress, and collaborate closely with educators and multidisciplinary teams. This immersive, full-time experience will expose you to specialized instructional methods and pioneering leadership approaches in education while broadening your clinical skillset and professional network.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid SLPA licensure with eligibility for Maine certification
- Prior school-based SLPA experience preferred
- Proficiency with AAC devices and interventions for diverse communication needs
- Experience supporting high school-aged students encouraged
- Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct speech/language services as directed by a supervising SLP
- Implement individualized AAC strategies to support student communication
- Document student progress and prepare relevant reports
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to optimize outcomes
- Contribute to a respectful, supportive school environment
