Make a positive difference in high school students’ lives by supporting their social, emotional, and academic well-being in a contract school-based social worker assignment. This position is located near Aurora, IL, serving as a crucial support for students and staff during a leave coverage period.
Key Qualifications:
- Active PEL (Professional Educator License) required
- Previous experience as a social worker in a school setting strongly preferred
- Proven ability to connect and communicate effectively with high school students
- Understanding of adolescent development and challenges faced by high school populations
- Strong skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and collaborative problem-solving
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional and behavioral support services to high school students
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to identify student needs and offer proactive interventions
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to address issues such as attendance, peer relationships, family challenges, or academic stress
- Develop and implement strategies to promote positive school climate and student well-being
- Participate in student support team meetings and contribute to individualized education plans when needed
- Document interventions, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with all school and district protocols
Details:
- Full-time contract role covering a leave position from August 10th to September 18th
- Hours are 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM, with a 50-minute unpaid lunch break each day
- Work directly with a dynamic high school student population
