5th Grade 6th Grade School-Based Social Worker | Austin, Texas

In this contract role, you will work closely with students, staff, and families to address barriers to learning and foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited program
• Valid state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a School Social Worker
• Previous experience supporting middle-grade and early high school students is advantageous
• Strong understanding of adolescent development, family systems, and educational dynamics
• Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators
• Compassionate, resourceful, and dedicated to student well-being

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group social-emotional support to students in grades 5–9
• Develop and implement intervention plans for students experiencing social, behavioral, or emotional challenges
• Consult with teachers and staff to promote strategies that enhance student engagement and success
• Act as a liaison between families, school personnel, and community resources to connect students with needed support
• Conduct needs assessments and crisis interventions as necessary
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with regulations and best practices
• Participate in team meetings, IEP planning, and professional development activities
