This contract-based position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a day therapeutic program serving three highly specialized classes: two elementary classrooms for students with emotional disabilities and one for elementary students with autism.
You’ll collaborate with a dedicated multidisciplinary team, providing crucial social work services to help young learners thrive socially and emotionally. The typical workday runs from 8:15 AM to 3:15 PM, with a half-hour lunch break, ensuring a balanced schedule to support your own well-being. This role begins as soon as possible and continues through May 22, 2026, with the possibility of renewal for the next school year.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Valid PEL (Professional Educator License) with a School Social Work Endorsement (Type 73) or eligibility
- Experience in school settings, ideally with elementary-age students
- Background in providing services for children with emotional disabilities and/or autism highly valued
- Strong communication, counseling, and advocacy skills
- Ability to develop and implement IEP goals related to social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Comfort with collaboration across families, teachers, and support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct, individualized, and group social work services to students
- Conduct assessments, contribute to IEPs, and create intervention strategies
- Support students’ positive behavior and social/emotional development
- Facilitate ongoing communication between home and school
- Offer crisis intervention and collaborate with outside agencies as needed
