Discover a rewarding opportunity working directly with K-12 students as a Social Worker and Recreational Therapist. From now through the end of the school year, use your expertise to make a lasting impact across multiple school sites in the district. This full-time, onsite contract position features a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00am–3:30pm (35 hours weekly). As an itinerant professional, you’ll enjoy the variety and engagement that comes from supporting diverse students at various locations.
Candidates must hold a current NM CTRS Certification as outlined here. Your work will directly impact approximately 35 students with varied needs and backgrounds.
Desired Background & Certifications:
- Active NM Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential
- Experience working with K-12 students, particularly those with autism, ADHD, and developmental delays
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with school teams
- Comfortable traveling between multiple sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate group games to help students with autism develop social communication skills
- Design structured physical activities for students with ADHD to support focus and manage energy levels
- Implement adapted sports and recreational activities for students with developmental delays to enhance gross motor skills
- Guide students in utilizing community resources, promoting inclusion and participation in community recreation
- Offer individualized support to students navigating stress, anxiety, and depression, introducing relaxation and coping methods
