This position seeks a licensed school social worker to support middle school students during a maternity leave assignment. The role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a positive impact on students’ social and emotional well-being within an educational setting.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct social work services to middle school students
- Addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that affect academic performance and personal development
- Collaborating with educators, families, and community resources to develop individualized support plans
- Maintaining accurate and confidential records in compliance with school policies
- Participating in school meetings and contributing to a multidisciplinary student support team
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Valid school social worker license required
- Experience working with middle school students in a school setting
- Strong understanding of social work principles and child development
- Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively
Location: The assignment is based in Lackawanna, NY, serving a middle school caseload.
This maternity leave contract runs from ASAP through December, providing a stable and focused environment to practice school social work.
