This contract assignment is designed for a dedicated School Social Worker interested in making a difference by covering a maternity leave for the 26/27 school year. With a manageable caseload of 40 students, you’ll have the opportunity to focus on delivering personalized support.
Position Details:
- Full-time hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 2:30 pm
- Assignment runs from August 7, 2026, through October 26, 2026
- Located in a supportive educational community near Chicago, IL
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current and valid licensure as a School Social Worker in Illinois
- Previous experience working in a school-based setting strongly preferred
- Familiarity with IEPs and delivering services in accordance with their requirements
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, faculty, and families
- Compassion, flexibility, and a proactive approach to student concerns
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social work services to students according to their individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain consistent and thorough documentation of all sessions and services provided
- Collaborate closely with teachers, staff, and caregivers to support each student’s unique needs
- Act as an advocate and resource for students navigating social, emotional, or behavioral challenges
- Support the transition and continuity of care during the maternity leave period
