A school social worker is needed for an onsite contract role, working with students and educators from now through June 2026. Serving the Pontiac City area, you'll be an integral resource in fostering a supportive, inclusive school community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid, active School Social Worker certification (310) required; please submit documentation with your application
- Experience working with K-12 students preferred, especially in special education settings
- Familiarity with Michigan state credentialing requirements (certification can be verified at the Michigan Department of Education website)
- Candidates without current certification must have supervision arrangements completed prior to interview
- Strong advocacy, crisis intervention, and communication skills essential
- Ability to work collaboratively and build rapport with students, families, and school staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct social work services to K-12 students, including individual and group support
- Conduct assessments, develop intervention strategies, and contribute to IEP and 504 plans
- Collaborate closely with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote students’ social-emotional development
- Support transitions, crisis situations, and behavioral concerns within the school environment
- Maintain accurate, confidential records and adhere to best practices and district protocols
