School Social Worker in Columbia, MD

Make a difference in students’ lives by providing vital support as a School Social Worker for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year! This contract opportunity is located near Columbia, MD, and is open to both full-time and part-time candidates. Positions begin as soon as possible and run through June 16, 2027. A range of caseloads will be assigned based on the needs and structure of each school or program, including several part-time roles and a full-time, long-term substitute opening from mid-October to mid-April. All positions are onsite, offering meaningful in-person connections with students and staff.

Qualifications:

• Active licensure or certification as a Social Worker (LMSW, LCSW, or equivalent).
• Previous experience working in school settings or with school-aged children strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with social and emotional learning initiatives and behavioral support programs.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and advocacy skills when working with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Flexibility to adapt to varying caseload needs and age groups.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct and indirect social work services to students in need, including crisis intervention, counseling, and referrals.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, administration, and families to develop and implement support strategies.
• Monitor student progress and maintain thorough documentation consistent with district and regulatory standards.
• Participate in eligibility and IEP meetings as needed, contributing expert insights for student success.
• Advocate for student welfare, equity, and access to resources within the school community.
