Key Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and current LARA license are required. More information about Michigan licensing is available online.
- Accepted credentials include:
- Licensed or limited licensed master’s level psychologist (with proper supervision)
- MDE credentialed master’s level school psychologist
- Licensed or limited licensed master’s level school social worker (with supervision if limited)
- Licensed bachelor social worker (must be enrolled, or plan to enroll, in a master’s program within 24 months of hire)
- Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
- Licensed or limited licensed master’s level professional counselor (with appropriate supervision)
- School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement, Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor credentials (with commitment to pursue LARA licensure within 24 months if necessary)
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct social-emotional support to students through individual and group counseling.
- Offer professional learning for staff and consult on school-wide best practices in student wellness.
- Develop, implement, and monitor positive behavior support initiatives.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to address student needs holistically.
