Qualifications:
- Master’s degree is required for all candidates
- Active LARA license (see Michigan LARA website for details)
- Acceptable credentials include:
- Licensed master’s level psychologist or school psychologist (or limited license under supervision)
- Licensed master’s level social worker or school social worker (or limited license under supervision)
- Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
- Licensed master’s level professional counselor (or limited license under supervision)
- School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement (NT), Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credential (with intent to complete required licensing within 24 months)
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual and group counseling focused on social-emotional development for general education students
- Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and staff, providing strategies to bolster positive student behaviors
- Participate in professional learning sessions and support the ongoing development of positive behavioral interventions
- Adapt to the needs of both elementary and high school settings as needed
