Qualifications:

• Master’s degree is required for all candidates
• Active LARA license (see Michigan LARA website for details)
• Acceptable credentials include:
  • Licensed master’s level psychologist or school psychologist (or limited license under supervision)
  • Licensed master’s level social worker or school social worker (or limited license under supervision)
  • Licensed master’s level marriage and family therapist
  • Licensed master’s level professional counselor (or limited license under supervision)
  • School Counselor License, Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor endorsement (NT), Preliminary or Temporary School Counselor Credential (with intent to complete required licensing within 24 months)

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individual and group counseling focused on social-emotional development for general education students
• Serve as a resource for classroom teachers and staff, providing strategies to bolster positive student behaviors
• Participate in professional learning sessions and support the ongoing development of positive behavioral interventions
• Adapt to the needs of both elementary and high school settings as needed
