School-Based Social Worker - Detroit, Michigan

In this position, your expertise as a certified School Social Worker through the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) will allow you to support students' social, emotional, and academic needs. You'll collaborate with educators, administrators, and families to create a nurturing atmosphere and address barriers to learning.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active School Social Worker certification recognized by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE)
• Previous experience in a school-based or youth-focused setting strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practices, and community resources
• Skilled in conducting assessments, developing intervention plans, and maintaining thorough documentation
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities
• Flexible, compassionate, and eager to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide social-emotional support through individual and group counseling sessions
• Conduct assessments and develop individualized support strategies for students
• Collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to promote student success and well-being
• Assist in crisis intervention and offer resources/referrals to students and families as needed
• Maintain confidential and comprehensive records of all interventions and communications
• Participate in IEP/504 meetings and offer recommendations based on your expertise
