Social Worker in Detroit, MI

Make a meaningful impact supporting middle school students as a School Social Worker in an engaging educational environment near Detroit, MI. This contract position runs from August 2024 through June 2026, offering the opportunity to design your own consistent three-day-per-week schedule. You’ll collaborate with a seasoned full-time Social Worker on site, making this an excellent role for someone who thrives in a team-oriented setting or is newly entering the school setting.

This position comes with a competitive compensation of $45 to $53 per hour, and eligible candidates may benefit from healthcare coverage, housing options, and meals/incidentals. Further details about the healthcare benefits plan will be provided after application.

Key Qualifications:

• Current 310 endorsement or preliminary approval required for School Social Worker roles.
• Experience supporting middle school students is highly valued.
• Flexibility to commit to a consistent .6 (three days per week) schedule between 7:40am and 2:40pm.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for contributing to the wellbeing and growth of students.
• Previous experience in a school setting or related clinical experience is an asset.

Role Responsibilities:

• Manage a traditional middle school caseload, providing direct and indirect services to students.
• Conduct social-emotional interventions, crisis intervention, and behavioral supports.
• Participate in IEP and student support team meetings as needed.
• Design and implement plans that foster positive student outcomes in coordination with faculty, staff, and families.
• Maintain comprehensive student documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.
• Consult regularly with the on-site full-time Social Worker for guidance and resource sharing.
